missed my shift

I volunteer at least twice a month at my church's conference of St. Vincent de Paul.  I usually go in every other Wednesday and listen to messages and call people back from our office at Paz de Cristo.  This is called "intake" and involves a lot of things and is basically calling back potential clients who are in need.  But before I got to the office, I had to get Ben to school.....Well, I smelled the aweful smell of putrid burning rubber as I was driving him in the van.  After calling Bill to come rescue me at his lunchtime, I figured I better not drive it.  So, I had to call off my shift.  I was sad that I couldn't do what I had promised.  As I was "stuck" at home, not able to drive, I worked...and got a lot done!  Maybe I was supposed to be stuck at home today - they say everything happens for a reason...so I tried to take it in stride.  Bill came home and the van is in the shop.  Hopefully a wheel alignment will do the trick and I'll be back on schedule tomorrow.
